Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Cairo as the head of high-level delegation, making him the first Iranian leader to visit Egypt since 1979, when the two countries severed ties following Iran’s revolution and Egypt’s recognition of Israel. He is in Egypt to attend the 12th annual Organization for Islamic Cooperation on 6-7 February, where 26 leaders from 57 countries are expected to attend.
