Humanity’s rodent-like ancestor: US researchers identify unlikely-looking evolutionary link

Scientists have identified and reconstructed the oldest known common ancestor to every placental mammal from aardvarks to zebras — including humans. Researchers worked backwards through the placental mammal family tree starting with current species in order to create an image of the rodent-like animal.
